Capacitor Lists (48K Range)

The following lists describe the replacement capacitors required for all machines in the Spectrum 16/48K range.

They are all axial types unless otherwise indicated, and all 85°C type unless otherwise indicated.

When choosing replacement capacitors, the important part to match is the capacitance (1uf, 22uf etc.). The voltage rating must be equal or larger than the given values below, so a 1uf 63v capacitor can replace a 1uf 50v part, but not the other way round.

Also be mindful of the size of replacement parts – most suitable capacitors will be 10-12mm long, and between 5 and 10mm in diameter.

See our page on capacitor replacement if you need further guidance on the process itself.

Issue 1

These machines do not have the capacitor designations on the silkscreen, so instead consult the below annotated picture for location, type and rating of capacitors installed on this board.
